Needles: Couplets

Flames flicker in and out of darkness,

burning spirit as the fuel of love.

Lights shimmer up and down the vines,

limning leaves in a holy white.

Freedom wanders to and fro in bondage,

opening vistas of choice, the living self.

Potentials turn here and there in mud,

chancing upon the banality of what is.

Touch flattens deep and wide on glass,

pressing fragility, makeup of the mind.

Meteors fall up and down from space, pimply stones

heading nowhere, lodged in craters pronounced dead.

Poems sing the ins and outs of Eros, romance

dancing on cacti skins, needles puncture egos.
